About Shinco

Shinco makes portable air conditioners and dehumidifiers for the rooms a house forgets: the bedroom over the garage, the office with the west window, the basement that smells of rain. We have sold them in the US since 2018.

The Shinco range

Two kinds of machine and the parts that go with them. Our portable air conditioners run from 8,000 BTU for a bedroom to 14,000 BTU for a room up to 700 square feet, in the SPF2, SPF1 and SPU2 series, and two of them heat as well. Our dehumidifiers run from the compact SDL-30P for a closet or a bathroom to the commercial SGH-200P for a crawl space, with Wi-Fi units and pump units between them.

The parts are the small things that keep the big ones working: a seal for windows that crank instead of slide, and a replacement remote for the SPF1.

Who it is for

People whose central air does not reach every room, renters who cannot fit a window unit, and homeowners with a basement that stays damp from May to September. A portable unit rolls to where the heat or the damp is, and goes back into a closet when the season ends.

Two numbers on every unit

A portable air conditioner box shows a big BTU number, and a dehumidifier box a big pint number. Both come from tests run in hot air. We print the federal figure next to each one: the DOE seasonal rating for the air conditioners, the ENERGY STAR test figure for the certified dehumidifiers. It is the smaller number, and it is the one to compare.

8 years in American homes

Shinco has sold portable cooling and drying in the US since 2018. The SPF1 series has been with us from the start: the 8,000 BTU size came first, and the 12,000 BTU SPF1 sold today carries more than 3,500 ratings from the people who bought it. What the public sources say

ENERGY STAR Certified Dehumidifiers (product data). The certified-product records list the Shinco SDL-30P at 12 pints a day, the SDZ1-80P at 24, the SDZ1-120P at 35 and the SDZ1-150P/P at 50, each measured under the DOE Appendix X1 test that represents a basement. The SDL-30P record is marked ENERGY STAR Most Efficient; the record linked here is the SDZ1-120P, at 340 kWh a year and an integrated energy factor of 2.0 liters per kWh. Read October 18, 2026.
ENERGY STAR: Dehumidifier Testing and Capacity. The page explains that DOE standards which took effect in June 2019 test portable dehumidifiers at 65 degrees Fahrenheit instead of 80, to reflect a basement, so a unit tested the new way reports a smaller capacity. Its table maps old ratings to approximate new ones for portable units: 30 pints to 20, 50 to 30, 70 to 40 or 45, and 90 to 55. Read October 18, 2026.
